THE STROKES | Rolling Stone's 1000th Issue

The Strokes have signed on as the opening act for Rolling Stone magazine's 1,000th issue party, that is to go down on May 4th in the Hammerstein Ballroom. According to Media Ink, Jann Wenner is courting two other big named bands for the event, including Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers........

ROLLING STONE | MTV Reality Show

Rolling Stone is going reality tv. They're looking for some aspiring amateur journalists to compete for a one-year staff position with the magazine. MTV will tape the competition for a new reality series. If you want to enter: Here is the entry form.......

STOLEN TRANSMISSION | Now Online, SXSW

The Stolen Transmission website has sniffed a solid line of Doherty-powered cocaine and is now up and running!

After a good year plus of hearing about the label, which is run by Rob "I signed The Killers and Fall Out Boy" Stevenson and Sarah "Ultragrrrl" Lewitinn, is finally all official and shit. They've signed four bands, they're getting big press, and they're getting set to rock South By Southwest.

Last year, Sarah hosted a little house party that was insanely fun (and crowded). This year, the house party returns but as an official Stolen Transmission party. On the bill are five acts that are not signed to the label. Hmmm. Okay. Well, it should be a killer show, especially with Foreign Islands on the bill.......

LABEL WARS | Erase Errata, Ted Leo

This week has been filled with news of bands changing labels. Man, indie labels and bands are mad incestuous these days. Here's who went where:

Erase Errata have signed with Kill Rock Stars. Their previous records were put out through Troubleman Unlimited....

Mary Timony is also joining the rooster at Kill Rock stars. The former Helium singer has recorded solo for Lookout! Records.....

Also leaving Lookout! Records is Ted Leo + Pharmacist, who signed a three album deal with Touch & Go.......

MYSTERY JETS | Sign With StarTime

Brooklyn based StarTime International has just signed England's highly buzzed and Product Shop NYC favorites Mystery Jets. StarTime has been hitting big lately with Tom Vek, Dios (Malos), The Joggers, Duke Spirits, Brendan Benson, and others. This should keep the label out of the red.

Mystery Jet's EP Flotsam And Jetsam will be released on April 11th, which follows their first US Tour where they'll hit SXSW and a few other cites, including two nights at the Mercury Lounge.

Forbes Magazine loves nothing more than celebrating the richest of the rich. But how many articles can they write about Bill Gates, Goldman Sachs, and Google?

In an effort to prove that business folks have a sense of humor (Editors note: they do if you get them drunk and man do these guys and gals love to drink. Seriously, they throw some crazy parties), the editors at Forbes have compiled a list of the 15 Wealthiest Fiction Characters.

The list is extremely well done and includes some funny fact like this about Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks, "Net Worth: $27.3 billion, Source: Defense Industries, Marital Statue: Divorced, one child.
