HOWARD STERN | On Rob Sheffield

A lil' while ago Rob Sheffield, the kindest man in rock n' roll who isn't Dave Grohl, wrote a some-what satirical piece about how David Lee Roth was more exciting to listen to than Howard Stern. He talked about how Stern, pre-CBS lawsuit, didn't have anyone to really rail against at sirius, while Roth was like watching a car accident.

Well, Howard read the piece on the air and it turns out he is - or was - a big fan of Sheffs. Stern was upset by the piece and ranted about how Rolling Stone sucks, Jann sucks up to Yoko, and little Robbie Sheffield.

To be honest, I don't even think Howard was pissed at Rob. It honestly sounded like Howard really thought Rob was a cool rock journalist and felt stung that someone he thought of as cool kind of dissed him.

The show clip is about twenty minutes long and the remix (which is obviously a joke and not some serious music project) is like a minute long. Enjoy..........

The Beastie Boys, who will be on Late Show With David Letterman this Wednesday and at SXSW later this month, have thrown down a challenge to all you wannabe deejays.

The Boys from Brooklyn have posted a slew of free a cappella downloads on their website that they want you - yes you - to mash-up, fuck-up, and general remix. I'm not talking about one song or some schwag. I'm talking all the hits, including "Body Movin", "Intergalactic", "Root Down", "Shake Your Rump", "Super Disco Breakin", and so much more.

TED LEO | Two New Songs, School Brawl

New Touch & Go Records artists Ted Leo is gearing up to road test a slew of new songs and is even kindly putting some clean demos up on his website. Ted wrote in about the songs to say:

Hey, so we're going on tour next week, and new stuff isn't as far along as I was dreaming it would be, but we have a few new ones that we'll be playing, and I think that I got some good recordings of rough versions of two of them (especially ignore the guitar solos -- they'll get better) from yesterday's practice, so I thought I'd share them wif yiz. GUNS N ROSES | Two Chinese Democracy Leaks

The Guns N Roses machine seems to be in overdrive these days.

Reports have surfaced that not one but two brand new studio version tracks from Chinese Democracy have found their way online. One is known as "I.R.S." and the other is called "Better".

I may regret saying this later, but on first listen, they're both pretty fucking good. I'll be playing them nonstop at Rothko tonight......
