Sadly, Sarah Silverman's "You're Going To Die Soon" from Jesus is Magic was not nominated. Nor was any of the Jarvis Cocker/Radiohead Harry Potter songs. Boo. I am thrilled to see that Terrence Howard did get a Best Actor nod for Hustle & Flow. I'm also pissed that The Squid & The Whale was completely overlooked.

THE GRAMMYS | Sly & The Family Stone Reunion

Wow, Grammy award buzz? Who would have ever thunk it possible?!?! There is a big rumor circulated that the Grammy board has secured the appearance of Sylvester Stewart, the reclusive genius behind Sly & The Family Stone.

Sylvester hasn't performed with Sly & The Family Stone since 1975 after they played a disastrous three night run at Radio City Music Hall. He hasn't even touched a stage since 1987.

There's a riot going on at the Grammy on February 8th from Los Angeles.....

PRINCE | Nokia Theatre Show on February 2nd

Once again, Product Shop NYC was spot on about a secret Prince show in New York City.

Prince will be playing the sidekick role when his protigee, Tamar, headlines the Nokia Theatre on Thursday, February 2nd. The show starts at 11pm, which means 1am.

Tickets go onsale today at 3pm through Ticketmaster and will cost $31.21. If you happen to be a member of Prince's NPGMC Fanclub, you can get tickets today at noon through their website.

Prince will likely be playing rhythm guitar throughout the night, but will likely step up to the microphone for a couple of jams........

COACHELLA | Tool Second Headliner

According to the Los Angeles Times, Tool have been confirmed as Sunday's headliner. Among the other acts they confirm are Franz Ferdinand, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sigur Rós, Common, Matisyahu, TV on the Radio, Danger Mouse, Damien Marley, HARD-Fi, She Wants Revenge, Cat Power and the Like.........

TOM SNYDER | The Tomorrow Show Goes Punk

Back in the day, late night wonk Tom Snyder became a very unlikely supporter of the emerging punk and new wave scene. Maybe he thought they'd make for good television. Maybe he wanted to take advantage of an untapped market. Maybe he thought these wild and crazy kids had something to offer.

Either way, The Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder was the only venue for punks to get on U.S. television. His interviews with Iggy Pop and John Lydon (in his first post Pistols interview) are awesome confrontations. The Jam rocked. The Ramones ruled. The Plasmatics blew up a car. It was awesome.

THE RACONTEURS | Steady, As She Goes

The official website for Detroit super-rockers, The Raconteurs, has gone live!

The website is mad old-school Atari influenced. I feel like it was designed on an Apple 2E.  It's not old-school website design like the Eagles of Death Metal site, which looks like a 4th grader designed website from 1994. Rather, The Raconteurs go with all neon green bars, tabs, space bar, and more.

The best aspect of this old school website is that in the media section you can listen to "Steady, As She Goes" and "Store Bought Blues". They're both joyous rockers that sound exactly what you'd expect a Brendan Benson / Jack White collaboration to sound like.

I must say though, upon first listen, these songs are good, but nothing exceptional......

MYSTERY JETS | Sign With StarTime

Brooklyn based StarTime International has just signed England's highly buzzed and Product Shop NYC favorites Mystery Jets. StarTime has been hitting big lately with Tom Vek, Dios (Malos), The Joggers, Duke Spirits, Brendan Benson, and others. This should keep the label out of the red.

Mystery Jet's EP Flotsam And Jetsam will be released on April 11th, which follows their first US Tour where they'll hit SXSW and a few other cites, including two nights at the Mercury Lounge.

MANCHESTER V CANCER | The Smiths & Joy Division Reform

Johnny Marr curated the massive Manchester V Cancer concert at the M.E.N. Arena this past friday evening. He brought out just about every legendary Manchester band for the gig, including New Order, Doves, Badly Drawn Boy, 808 State, Utah Saints, Bez, and more.

The hightlight though came during Johnny Marr & The Healers set, when the former Smiths guitarist reunited for the first time in over a decade with Andy Rourke. They stormed through a version of "How Soon Is Now" to the delight of a manic arena.

On another note, New Order headlined the event and played only Joy Division songs! The set went: Transmission / She's Lost Control / Shadowplay / Atmosphere / Twenty Four Hours / Warsaw / Love Will Tear Us Apart / Ceremony

YEAH YEAH YEAHS | "Gold Lion (Diplo's Remix) Online

Diplo's dance remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs new single, "Gold Lion" can be found on music.aol.com.

On Diplo's discography page, under streaming songs, they have about 2 hours of his live DJ-ing. "Gold Lion" is the first song he played. so click on "Live from the Guggenheim in NYC CD1(Part 1)" under SONGS/VIDEOS. The song appears about five minutes into the mix.......
