The Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Gold Lion (Diplo's Optimo Remix)" has surfaced on the Bang! Fansite.

I know this is a remix, but it's still amazing how different it sounds from anything off of Fever To Tell. Karen's voice is very twisted and effects heavy. Gone is her raunchy growl. Instead it's all high and chilly. Nick's guitar is barely noticeable. Only small plucks. And Brian has no part in this version what-so-ever.

The remix is very reminiscent of Siouxsie and The Banshees, which isn't a bad thing, but it's very different than what you expect. I really want to hear the original version of this song, but for now.........

IAM MCKAYE | NYU Lecture, February 15th

On Wednesday February 15th, Ian McKaye will hold a special question and answer session at NYU's Kimmel Center. This is supposed to be a student only event. Ticket will be made available starting on Wednesday, February 1st. Two ticket limit per person.

Ian MacKaye has one of the most impressive and d.i.y. resumes of all time. He is best known as the owner of Dischord Records, and his recording career with Fugazi, The Evens, Minor Threat, The Teen Idles and Embrace. If you didn't know that, you probably don't want to go to this event.

He recently held a similiar event at Yale University and the ivy leaguers loved it........

WILCO | Tour Dates Added

Jeff Tweedy has been on the road doing his solo thing for awhile now, but will get together with the rest of the Wilco gang for the Langaredo Festival. The entire band has just scheduled some dates in South-East to coincide with their festival appearance.

No word if Tweedy will tour Loose Fur later this year......

And why didn't Coachella book Wilco, Loose Fur, or a solo Tweedy? Oy......

Those brilliant yucksters at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart did an excellent segment comparing and contrasting the million little lies of James Frey and the million little lies of President Bush and his staff. Which one will have a greater impace on our future?

In related news, The New York Daily News' television critic, Richard Huff, proves what an absolute idiot he is in his latest column called "A Dislocated Hipster". In it he writes:

"Try as I might - and trust me, I've tried - I just don't get Stewart. I don't think he's all that funny and he's vastly overrated...watching "The Daily Show" for me is like being on the outside of an inside joke."

By "inside joke", I suppose he means "the news of the day".......

STATE OF THE UNION | President Bush Recites Alphabet, crowd applauds

Don't worry. President Bush's State of the Union address won't int erupt American Idol. Among the things the boy in the bubble won't be discussing tonight are:

• The case of disgraced Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff and the surprising turn its taken. The chief prosecutor investigating the lobbying scandal has been forced to step down because President Bush has nominated him for a federal judgeship. The prosecutor - Noel Hillman - is being removed just at time that the probe is expanding into what could turn out to be one of the largest Congressional scandals in a century. Already Abramoff has admitted to bribing members of Congress and defrauding Native American clients. .....
• How the body armor being worn by ABC News anchor Bob Woodruff saved his life when he was hit by roadside bomb in Iraq is not available to American troops fighting in Iraq. In November, the Marines and Army recalled 18,425 armor vests because they didn't meet ballistic criteria. It took the Marines and Army six years to determine those vests aren't up to par. A new contract, worth $34 million, has just been granted for improved body armor that should get to troops by 2007at the earliet. Great. Very speedy. Way to plan ahead.....
• How, during an extremely sluggish economy where the unemployment rate continuously rises, gasoline companies like Exxon are posting their biggest profits ever. Interesting how that works out, isn't it...
• The counting problems in New Orleans. It has now been over five months since Katrina hit New Orleans and most of the city is still without clean water, electricity, and in serious jeopardy of falling into an even large depression. Doctors are the most vocal about the urgent problems, saying they do not have the supplies or working conditions they need to function on even a basic level. The entire region is still in disorder and it's barely on the news....

Of course, the Democrats are pathetic, disorganized, and still haven't laid out an agenda for the 2006 midterm elections. Virginia's new Democrat Governor Timothy Kaine will deliver the Democrats repines to President Bush's speech. The choice of Kaine is interesting in that it seems an obvious nod to 2008 Presidential Democrat candidate and former Virginia Governor Mark Warner..........

SUPREME COURT | Alito Confirmed By Senate

By 58-42, the Senate voted to confirm Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Congratulations Republicans! America just took another massive step towards becoming ultra-conservative........

COACHELLA | Official Line-Up Revealed

This morning, Coachella organizers went on KROQ in Los Angeles and announced the Coachella line-up. Now before I get attacked because Pearl Jam is not headlining day two, please note that they did turn down the headlining offer. You may notice that Sleater-Kinney is still on the bill for Sunday.

Other acts that Coachella offered the Sunday headline spot to include The Smashing Pumpkins (agreed to headline, then cancelled), The White Stripes (touring conflicts), The Smiths (offered a ridiculous amount of money and turned down), My Bloody Valentine (accepted, but opted to work on new Primal Scream record instead), and Gorillaz (not ready to tour)

THE WALKMEN | New Album Info, Supporting The Pogues

The Boston Globe the return of New York City, and now Philadelphia, boys The Walkmen. This was their first live show in quite awhile and they previewed a slew of songs from their upcoming third record, which will be titled All Hands and the Cook and will be released in May. reviewed

Among the new songs debuted were "Come On Over Here," "Tenleytown," "This Job Is Killing Me," and "Lost in Boston."

Also, The Walkmen have been tapped to open for The Pogues at the Nokia Theatre on March 19th.......
