Thurseday night is the one year anniversary party for Le One Night Stand, the premiere french/international pop-rock party. To celebrate the occassion, Lady Melody Nelson will make her singing debut of one of Serge Gainsbourg's most famous tunes. It should be a fun night......
The post-sxsw show invasion of New York City just got a bit more crowded thanks to Oh My Rockness, who are hosting an excellent show at the Brooklyn Lyceum, one of my favorite venues that goes way under-used. Product Shop NYC was going to use this venue for some of our parties, but they're crazy about keeping the volume for show very quiet. It's shame.
Anyway, Oh My Rockness has put together an excellent bill that includes Detachment Kit, Foreign Islands, The Big Sleep, and Goes Cube. Hopefully, they'll have better luck with the venue than I did........

Kid Congo Powers may be the hardest working indie rocker. The man tours and releases more albums a year than Prince and Ryan Adams combines. You know Kid from The Gun Club, The Cramps, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and his various other groups.
On March 3rd at Tonic, Kid is gathering a slew of friends together to celebrate the release of two new records, Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds' Philosophy and Underwear and Kid Congo Powers' Solo Cholo.
Gibby Haynes will host the part and Ian Svenonius will serve as the deejay. Congo Norvell will reunite and Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds will perform, alongside a slew of other special guests. It should be a rather fun night.........

Back in my younger and crazier days as a member of The Morning After, we did a tour of Europe with the Goodnight Gunfight girls. We wrapped the tour up with an amazing show at The Trash Bar in Williamsburg. It was an exceptional night. Lots of drinking, stage-diving, jumping around, and zaniness. They were a damn fun band and will be missed........

Tonight's late show at the Merc starts with Kunek, a six-pack of multi-instrumentalists from Stillwater, Oklahoma. Now don't expect any "Fever Dog" action from these oddballs. They're more indie oriented with a crisp orchestrated sound that lies some-where closer to pre-Funeral Arcade Fire than Almost Famous era Stillwater..........
