This Thursday night at Rothko is Product Shop NYC's big party! The show will feature sets by some of the most buzzed about bands, including Group Sounds, Tapes 'N Tapes, and Sam Champion. Following the music, the venue will host the We Are Scientists after-party, with dj sets from Michael Showalter and Tarts of Pleasure.
As you are likely well aware, this has been a massive week for Tapes 'N Tapes. They're recent dates in NYC received rave reviews from Music For Robots, Gothamist, The Underrated Blog, Brooklyn Vegan, Totes Probs Maybs, I Rock I Roll, No Yeti Dance, Heart On A Stick, and Fresh Bread. Thursday night will be you last opportunity to see them until the late spring.
Since December, Group Sounds have found their dance party rock getting big love from Pitchfork, MTV (who have been using their songs in just about every show they air from My Sweet 16 to their New Years Eve special), Spin, and all the blogosphere. The boys just signed a deal with Scissor Sisters and Lady Sovereign's booking agent, and I hear they're close to signing a pretty awesome record deal.
And then we got Sam Champion! Oh wait, I mean Noah Chernin. Or will it be Sam Champion performing? Hmmm. Secrets. Secrets. Secrets. Anyway, there is a reason that Sam Champion is being championed by Stephen Malkmus, The Hold Steady, Rogue Wave, Helio Sequences, WOXY, Pop Bitch, Teen People (no shit!), and Oh My Rockness. These motherfuckers kick fucking ass. Don't miss them...........
