COACHELLA | Official Line-Up Revealed
This morning, Coachella organizers went on KROQ in Los Angeles and announced the Coachella line-up. Now before I get attacked because Pearl Jam is not headlining day two, please note that they did turn down the headlining offer. You may notice that Sleater-Kinney is still on the bill for Sunday.
Other acts that Coachella offered the Sunday headline spot to include The Smashing Pumpkins (agreed to headline, then cancelled), The White Stripes (touring conflicts), The Smiths (offered a ridiculous amount of money and turned down), My Bloody Valentine (accepted, but opted to work on new Primal Scream record instead), and Gorillaz (not ready to tour)
Here's the official confirmed line-up:
Saturday, April 29
Depeche Mode, Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros, Common, Damian Marley, Atmosphere, Carl Cox, My Morning Jacket, Ladytron , Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Tosca, Cat Power, Animal Collective, HARD-fi, Derrick Carter, Devendra Banhart, She Wants Revenge, The Walkmen, The Juan Maclean, Audio Bullys, Lady Sovereign, Deerhoof, The Duke Spirit, Editors, stellastarr, Lyrics Born, Matt Costa, The New Amsterdams, The Zutons, Platinum Piped Pipers, White Rose Movement, Chris Liberator, Colette, Imogen Heap, Joey Beltram, Hybrid, Wolfmother, The Like, Living Things, Nine Black Alps, The Section Quartet, Infadels, Youth Group, Shy FX & T Power, Infusion.

This is a major dissapointment. DM is the only band on the lineup worth travelling for...and I have seen them 2 times already this year!!! Coachella is gonna lose major steam with this lineup.

i dont think im going this year. how could they put together such a week line-up the year that bonnaroo is putting together a crazy strong line-up. dumb move. i think they really fucked this one up.

i agree with you kids completely.

I don't think this is a weak line-up, it just doesn't compare to the line-ups that Coachella has had in the last four years, which have been outstanding.
The biggest problem is that this line-up doesn't have the strength to make me want to cross the country. The buzz factor is definitely missing this year.
Tomorrow, Bonnaroo line-up will be announced....

Shit Sandwich in the dessert.
Most of these bands other then the headliners will be touring smaller clubs leading up to Coachella.
Tool.....????

Tool? I mean....Tool? What the hell? Seriously. Tool?
Oh, and as nice as it was to hear about that MBV rumor, I would have been willing to bet you a whole lot of money that it would never happen.

Gotta love all the ignorant Tool haters who can never say why they hate Tool.
Posted by: Bort | January 31, 2006 at 04:47 PM

I remember back at coachella 99 the hardcore tool fans looked like they were going to melt in the sun. Who goes to palm springs wearing vinyl and makeup?
Posted by: JMFR* | January 31, 2006 at 07:45 PM
The Cure fans at Coachella 2004 were melting in the sun. (Heck, I was melting too and I was dressed appropriately!)

The Strokes turned down their offer to play because they didn't wanna play if Tool was headlining. Pretty weak on their part. Where is Underworld though???

I read on MSN, that Beck was confirmed for Bonnaroo too. If that's the case..I was 3/3 on my 'off the top of my head' rumors I posted on Wiki way back in October. I predicted radiohead, tom petty, and beck as the main guys...and I swear it was with no prior knowledge of anything...pretty good if you ask me.

Now Erik, good for you. It still proves you have way to much free time on your hands. Just get inside sources at the festival like I do!
Posted by: Jason | January 31, 2006 at 10:10 PM
DAFT PUNK!
Posted by: Erik | February 01, 2006 at 03:18 PM
how does one go about getting inside sources? does it involve sacrificing all your dignity and self repect?
