COACHELLA | Maybe Better Than Bonnaroo??
I was sure psyched to learn that Radiohead, Tom Petty, and Beck were playing Bonnaroo, but I've just gotten a fairly reliable tip that Coachella has gotten an unbelievable band to reunite that may shift my plane ticket from Tennessee to Indio: My Bloody Valentine!!!
Holy. Noise. Fuck. Amazing. Wow.
Even though this rumor comes from a very reliable source, I just can not believe it's true until the official line-up is announced the first week of February. Other rumored acts include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sigur Ros, Morrissey, The Strokes, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Robert Pollard, and Franz Ferdinand.
The only officially confirmed acts so far are Depeche Mode, Wolf Parade, Giant Drag, The Duke Spirit, Imogen Heap, Paul Oakenfold, Underworld, and Amadou & Mariam.
In related news, authorities seized 31 pounds of black-tar heroin in Coachella Valley earlier this week....
U can take a party bus there:

i hope it's not the same reliable source that said The Smiths were reuniting in Coachella last year.

Are u a fucking moron. Every year you post a million "reliable source" stories about bands reuniting, etc for Coachella and they never pan out. You are about as credible as the Bush administration that you love to criticize.

The San Francisco Chronicle seconds the rumor.

Awesome! George Bush not only taps my phone, he reads my blog. Thanks George for the high praise.
I hadn't seen that SF Chronicle piece, but it's nice to have some back-up to keep our President assured that I'm not trying to outright lie to the public.

Hey, at least you acknowledge it as a rumor, unlike those folks at ambitious-outsiders who reported Portishead and Massive Attack last year as fact. And didn't I first hear about Kraftwerk and NIN at Coachella 2004 here? Well, obviously Kraftwerk showed up, but apparently the second day headliner was in fact supposed to be Nine Inch Nails, but Trent Reznor wasn't finished with the new album or whatever, so they got The Cure instead.

Where did you hear Tom Petty and Beck were playing Bonnaroo (Radiohead is a given)? Wikipedia? If so, I know who posted those rumors on that page...

Again, I dont think you had any reliable sources for your Bonnaroo prediction, because I know who started those, so believing this is very very hard.

just to back jason up, he does not post news items from stories he reads on the web. he plenty of music industry contacts and reliable sources. this does not mean that he (or they) are always right but it does mean that there is good reason to get excited when he posts about the possibility of upcoming shows/festivals that are going to rule! give the dude the benefit of the doubt.

I assure you that the Beck, Radiohead, and Tom Petty news did not come from Wikipedia....

I'm not trying to hammer you. I just want you to know that I was the one who originally posted all those bands on Wikipedia way back in october, and I did it off the top of my head. It's possible that your sources got the info from that maybe...again maybe not. All I know is that I posted those bands off the top of my head with no knowledge of it being true or not. If they are to be the headliners, which I know one is, then I'm sure good at predicting!!!
