SPIKE JONZE & KAREN O | Hello Tomorrow, Goodbye Today
When Spike Jonze and Sofia Coppola got divorced in 2003, a tear was shed throughout the hipster world. At around the same time, Yeah Yeah Yeah frontwoman Karen O mapped her escape from Angus Andrew of The Liars.
When news surfaced that the director of Being John Malkovich was dating the Yeah Yeah Yeaher, the indie community immediately embraced them as their Nick & Jessica.
Without much fanfare, it seems that the fab couple has split.
This is sad, not so much because their love followed the exact trajectory as Nick & Jessica, but because their relationship, unlike Nick & Jessica, produced some awesome collaborations. They worked together on a creepy Yeah Yeah Yeah's promotional video for "Y Control" and also on a classic Nike ad. Who knows what else they could have done together.
Karen O, who moved to Los Angeles (some said to be closer to Spike), is reportedly back in New York working on the final mixes of the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs disc that was produced by Squeak E. Clean, who happens to be Spike's brother. No word on which up-and-coming indie-chick with credibility Spike is planning on sleeping with next.......

Actually, it was an Adidas ad. You can relive it, in honor of the erstwhile couple, here:

I didn't even know they were dating. And Karen O's voice on 'Hello Tomorrow' almost made me not wish her stupid hipster bob would catch on fire.
