From today's Saskatoon Star Phoenix: Canada must spice up its dull image if its universities want to overtake rivals from other countries in the fierce competition for international students.
While Canadian universities are perceived as innovative, they are often passed over by foreign students eager for the chance to study near Sydney's beaches, or London's pubs, an international student recruiter said.
"We have been perceived as bland," said Jennifer Humphries, vice-president, membership and scholarships, at the Ottawa-based Canadian Bureau of International Education -- a non-profit organization that recruits foreign students to Canadian universities.
How can anyone say Canada is bland? I will now list here all the things about Canada that I love:
My pal Marilisa
Canadian television programming from my childhood: Kids in the Hall, Degrassi Junior High, You Can't Do That On Television
When in Montreal, you can pretend that you are in France
Aw, fuck it attitude
Drawn & Quarterly comics
Porno, porno, porno
And much more!
Canada bland! I think not...
